How to Prepare for Emergency Broadcasts

EdSmart enables you to quickly notify parents, students and staff of emergency cancellations or evacuations. EdSmart is hosted on the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform which means it's accessible even if your school is without power.

We have a few recommendations to help you be prepared:

  • If you have Single Sign On and the system is hosted at your school, have a user account that is not tied to SSO in case it's unavailable due to power outage.
  • Have Broadcast Templates made in advance that can be quickly used.
  • Set up a List with all students (or just the eldest sibling to avoid duplicate emails to parents).
  • Have a User Group with all staff in case you want them copied on the broadcast.
  • You may also wish to have SMS enabled to reach parents more effectively.
