Tips for using digital communication

  • Digital Communication is much less formal; more personal.
  • Get to the point and keep attention.
  • Attention is MUCH shorter when viewing digital material.
  • Add interest with formatting such as headings, colour, and white space.
  • Understand the power of a template and the benefit of familiarity for the parent.
  • Start with the end in mind. "What do I need from the parent?"  This will make your export data much more powerful and easy to use.
  • Separate the information that you are providing and the question you wish the person to respond to.
  • Make each question short and clear.
  • Remember the user experience. Use required fields appropriately.
  • Where possible provide a selection of options for the staff or parent to choose from in a question. This assists when trying to collate responses.
