Parent Teacher Interviews: An Overview

Parent Teacher Interviews are now a functionality available in EdSmart for the Department of Education South Australia.

This functionality is available for selection via the left-hand navigation panel titled ‘Parent Interviews’.

Parent Interviews are best organised by someone with Administrator Permissions in EdSmart.

The broad Functionality of Parent Interviews gives schools the freedom to set up Parent Interviews within EdSmart in a multitude of ways.

You will have the capacity to:

  • Create a Parent Interviews Event, which is a period of time of which you would like multiple interviews to occur. (days, weeks, or even months). An Event will have a Start Date and an End Date

  • Create a Parent Interviews Session, which can be selected from any single day within the Event date range. You have the capacity to make multiple Sessions across an Event; including multiple Sessions in one day.

  • Allocate multiple Student Lists to Sessions. This gives Parents/Caregivers the capacity to book multiple Parent Interviews at once without double-booking any sessions or navigating to multiple Slip Responses for individual bookings.

  • Allocate additional Users to Sessions. Parent Interviews are not limited to the Teacher/Staff member specifically allocated to a particular subject. You have the freedom to choose any User in EdSmart for your school who your families can meet for the Parent Interview Session.

  • Allocate unique availability for each User. This ensures bookings cannot be made during individual breaks.
