A glossary has been designed to describe and explain standard terms.

The designated title of those who are responsible for the relevant student.

Absentees 

  • The name of the functionality that advises who is absent from school for the day.

  • As it requires a response from a Parent/Guardian, it can be found in the ‘Parent Slips’ section of EdSmart.

Administrator 

  • A user with additional permissions to allow access to settings and admin functions.

  • Need to confirm the user settings for DECYP, is central team admins only and others are staff with permissions? 

  • An unrestricted staff member using EdSmart.

  • It is recommended to have as few Administrator permissions as possible (i.e. Principal, Business Manager, IT Manager)

Broadcast 

  • The name given to a communication piece sent out that does not require a response from the recipient

Contacts 

  • The EdSmart Function name for Parents/Guardians

Dashboard 

  • The name of the EdSmart home page, also often referred to as Home Dashboard

Form Template 

  • The name given to the piece that frames/outlines what is sent from EdSmart.

  • Everything in EdSmart starts with a Template.

  • DECYP manages all Templates for DECYP schools.

Function/Functionality 

  • The name given to an operating piece or section within the EdSmart Platform

Slip/Parent Slip 

  • The name given to the two-way communication function that goes out to families that requires a response – usually a consent piece. 

  • Parent Slips is also used in the Navigation Menu to assist users to navigate to all Parent Slips.

Students 

  • The students at your school

User 

  • A staff member using EdSmart.

  • Accessibility restrictions can be put in place for Platform management and elevated permissions can be given for relevant roles (i.e. Head of Faculty, Assistant Principal etc)
