A Parent Contact is not appearing in EdSmart

For schools that automatically sync data from your Student Management System into EdSmart:

If a Parent Contact is present in your School’s Student Management System, but is not showing up in EdSmart after an overnight sync, please contact your ICT Team. It’s possible that the SQL view, which controls the Contacts that EdSmart can read, is filtering out that Contact for some reason. For example, flags such as, ‘lives with student', ‘can receive email’, ‘can receive SMS’, etc. are set to NO.

Please keep in mind that Contacts should only be provided to EdSmart if they are considered appropriate to receive communications for and respond on behalf of a Student.

There are 3 approaches you can take from here:

  1. Do nothing because it turns out this Contact is not supposed to receive communications;

  2. Adjust the settings for the Contact in your Student Management System so they will appear in the SQL view and therefore in EdSmart; or

  3. Adjust the query in the SQL view so it includes the Contact that is not appearing. Keep in mind this could cause other Contacts to appear as well.
