Notifying the Parent/Guardian of their Child's Absence

Overview

When a student is marked absent via the DECYP Student Management EduPoint System, the EdSmart Platform is notified, which triggers a notification to the Parent/Guardian for the student.

The Absentee notification will be sent to the Parent/Guardian to view as an Email and or SMS based on their nominated preference.

 Instructions

The Parent/Guardian has two options to respond to this notification:

  1. Clicking on the EdSmart Absentee Slip link within the body of the notification will take them directly to the EdSmart platform to enter a response for the absence. This is the most common way the Parent/Guardian will reply.

  2. Call the school telephone number in the SMS to report the reason for absence. This option is used when a Parents/Guardian cannot access the internet.

EdSmart allows Parent Guardians the ability to choose their preferred communication method, and this is managed through Edupoint.

If Parents/Guardians request to change this preference, please contact the DECYP Support team via [insert details].
