What to do when a Slip has been sent but there are some changes to be made

Schools often report that they would like to make changes to a Slip that has already been sent. Although we understand why you might want to do this, there are a few concerns:

  • The integrity of the Slip would be impacted.

  • Parents who have already submitted a Slip response will not see the changes.

  • The edited Slip will have to go through the Workflow again which could be time-consuming if there are multiple Editors/Approvers.

Instead, for this scenario, we recommend the following:

  1. Users Set/Update Closing Date for the Slip immediately via the Action button. The closing date should be the previous day’s date to close Slip Responses immediately. This Knowledge Base article explains how to do this.

  2. Send a Broadcast within the Slip to let Parents/Students know that this communication is no longer valid and a new one will be sent shortly. Ensure you send this Broadcast to all previous recipients, including those that have not yet responded. Please see this Knowledge Base article for more on how to send a Broadcast from within a Slip.

  3. Create a Clone of the original Slip via the Action button. To learn more, read this Knowledge Base article.

  4. Make the changes to the Slip and edit the Slip’s name to distinguish it from the earlier transmission e.g. Year 10 Permission Slip for Melbourne Zoo - updated version.

  5. Make any necessary changes to the Recipients and send your new Slip.
