Info
titleNote

It is best practice for Contacts to have their own email address and not share with a spouse.  This enables features such as Contact Attributes and Parent Initiated Forms to be associated with the correct Parent Contact.  It is also best practice for parents who are also Staff Users to have separate email addresses for their Staff Users and Parent Contact records.

Managing Contacts via sync

If you have a sync set up from your school's Student Management System, you should manage data from there instead, and the changes will reflect in EdSmart after the next sync.  See Synching your school's data with EdSmart for more details.

Managing Contacts manually

If you are not able to sync Contacts from your school's data, you can create and edit Contact details manually.  Note that If you sync your school's student data in the future it may be overwritten.

Click the blue Edit Contact button to update the details of a Parent Contact. A Contact must have a valid email address in order to receive Slips from EdSmart. If you have Two Factor Authentication enabled, or SMS notifications enabled, then there must also be a valid mobile phone number present. A User can select between Email and/or SMS as preferred means notification to a parent by ticking the options 'Send Email Notifications' and 'Send SMS Notifications'

Importing Contacts in bulk via CSV

You can also upload Contacts in bulk via CSV.  See this article for more details.
